Not A Fan by Kyle Idleman

I have three books I'm in the process of reading. I have been reading The Rift for almost 6 months. It What has an interesting subject, the New Madrid fault and it's history. I've come to a part that has me bored a little and being restless I picked up another book. Heaven is a book by Randy Alcorn that I've had for many years and never read it. With the world in a mess and needing something positive, I thought this would be a good read. It is very enlightening. I love thinking about heaven and the beautiful imagery it brings to mind. This book helps my imagination along and I love it. The other book I'm reading is Not a Fan by Kyle Idleman. It is about the difference between being a fan of Jesus and being a follower. I've learned that in America, the majority of people are just fans of Jesus and not a follower. Based on the tradition of churches we grew up in, we are all used to following the rules and not Christ. This has been not only enlightening but releasing. What an awesome experience. I would recommend it to anyone.

Baby it's HOT outside

It is SO hot in Alabama today! The pool looks really good but I know it feels like a sauna. The best thing to do is stay inside and find something to do. The only thing is, that there's nothing I want to do except either scrapbook or read! I'm reading a new book I got at the library last week.  I'm not one to read an author that I know nothing about. Usually if I read a new author, it's because someone has recommended it but I picked up a book that wasn't recommended because it just looked good. I started it and am 17 pages in. So far so good. The name of it is Blackout by Connie Willis.  She has written 11 prior books but I've never heard of her.  I'll keep you updated on the progress.  I'll be working on a project for a bridal shower that will be tomorrow so I might not get to read more until bed time tonight.  I better wrap this up for now.

Outlander Series

I'm still reading "Dragonfly in Amber" by Diana Gabaldon but today as I started reading it was just in such a sad point of the book that I had to put it down.  Jamie and his clan are in their first campaign for The Bonnie Prince and the casualties of war are stacking up.  I just didn't think I could handle so much sadness on such a beautiful day.

I bought another Kate Morton book a couple of weeks ago and hope to get started on it before long.  I love my Nook but still like the feel of a "real" book in my hands.  There's just something about paper that feels comfortable.

I homeschool my son Logan and I will be very busy before long reading school books, curriculum logs, and the such.  I always get excited about school when it first begins, my enthusiasm starts waivering around the end of Christmas.  Maybe this year will be better.

What's your Fave

What is your favorite book? Author? Series? I have so many. My favorite genres differ depending on the mood and such that I happen to be in.  Recently I started re-reading the Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon. This is a time travel series with lots of wonderful history.  I like it because it doesn't read like a sappy romance novel but it's exciting with lots of action, adventure, characters that seem like friends that you know and situations that will have you saying, that could totally be me.  I belong to Goodreads, Paperbackswap, yahoo groups We love reading and Bookcrazy. Reading is one of my all time favorite past times.
